I'm Back!!

Hello World!!

I took quite a long break from things for the last few months, but now I am back at it!  As the saying goes - "When it rains, it pours" - so I am jumping back in with a vengeance. To get myself back in the game I have been preparing for a craft fair in my community for the last month or so.  It took place on Saturday and I am happy with how it turned out.  My table is pictured below.

A HUGE thank you to all who stopped by my table!  I loved meeting everyone and chatting about cards, classes and even comic expo earlier this year.

After a little RnR Saturday evening and Sunday I am ready to get back to it and start preparing for my Stamp-A-Stack class this coming Saturday. Check out my classes section for more details and pictures.

Have a great Monday!

I'm Geeky And I Know It

Hello friends!

The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo had an exciting new guest announcement yesterday.  Jewel Staite is going to be there and she plays one of my favorite characters from Firefly!

I may not be posting regularly in the next few weeks as I prepare for Calgary's con. I was determined not to have a costume this year, for various reasons, however Kaylee's is simple and it's a chance I can't pass up.

Not all my time is going to be devoted to preparing for the expo however. I'm going to have a class before the big weekend to get in the spirit of con. Mark off April 11th in your calendars as that will be the day. I will have more details to come so stay tuned.

In honor of the upcoming con and geek class, I would really love to put a song together called "I'm Geeky And I Know It", but I need your help.

Here is your challenge. Listen to the song "I'm Sexy And I Know It" here, or the great remake "I'm A Daddy And I Know It" on YouTube here. Remake the lyrics to fit I'm geeky and I know it. The person who comes up with the most and best lyrics will win a prize!! Please post in the comments below or email me.

I can't wait to see what you all come up with!!

Owl Punch - Graduation

Happy Monday Readers!

Like I promised a while ago, I am now sharing with you one more project that I made on my crazy crafting weekend.  I was going to wait a little longer to show you all this project, just in case my friend who this is intended for saw it.  I can't wait that long though so I just won't name my said friend who the card is for.

The owl builder punch is another of my all time favorites.  This punch is so versatile and can be used for almost anything.  I first got it when I did a class with my up line Allison Okamitsu who did a Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head class.  Since then I haven't been able to stop looking for brilliant idea's people come up with for this punch!

I made a set of these cards a very long while ago....just before I graduated myself last May.  The sentiment is from a retired set called Pomp & Circumstance which I really only used once. :(

The big focal point for this card is the owl, thank goodness, so it is really easy to recreate with a different sentiment. The only tricky part with the owl was the hat.  I just cut pieces free hand out of Coastal Cabana card stock.

I can't wait to give this one away!

Thanks for visiting,
Lindsay

Demonstrator Technique Day

Welcome fellow crafters!

A couple of weeks ago I attended a wonderful day hosted by two of my up lines learning a whole bunch of new techniques.  Allison and Kristine graciously put together this wonderful crazy day for the Inkin' Elite team to kick-start some ideas for us.  It sure did that for me!  SO many idea's brewing in my head now.  Below are just a select few of the 20 techniques we went through that day.

Wax Paper Resist
Starburst
Magical Masking Tape
Faux Silk

These are only a fraction of what we did that day and some of my favourites.  Maybe I will share more of these techniques with you down the road.

If you have any question's about any of the techniques shown today I would LOVE to hear them!!  We may have rushed through a lot of them, but I have it all sorted out in my head.

Thanks for reading!

March Inkin' Elite Swaps

You Hello friends,

First off, I have to say that is good to be back!! I have been absent for a while for many different reasons, but I think the main one is that I seriously damaged my phone. My phone is my life, as I'm sure it is for a lot of you out there. It is also where I write most of my posts and have or had all of my pictures. It took about 3 weeks to sort things out and get a new one. :(

Anyways, I am back and I have a great new project for you to see!!

This is the swap I created for our Inkin' Elite Swaps this month. The challenge was to use stamp sets that we have never used or haven't used in a long time. I ended up doing both on this card. The background is Stampin' Up's Hardwood stamp and I'm SOO in love with it!! I just received it on a recent order and I am a little surprised I haven't ordered it before now. The other stamp set is Stampin' Up's Thoughts And Prayers which has been sitting on my shelf for a very long time.

I had a lot of fun putting these cards together! Mainly because of the double watercolour technique I used on the front of the card.

hope you love my swap as much as I do! I can't wait to see what comes back from my team members!

Thanks for reading!

Feline Friday

Happy Feline Friday!!

To explain the feline part you have to check out the below picture of myself and some of the ladies at work.

All of us LOVE our feline friends so we thought we should make Friday's dedicated to them by wearing anything related to them.  I may not have the same sweater as the other girls, but it is where my heart lies that matters.  :)

To keep the theme of Feline Friday's, I had to make this card as soon as I got home from work.

To go that one step further, I am going to share with all of you my feline friend Lynx.  She keeps me warm on cold days, keeps me company when my room mate is out, and wakes me up when my alarm doesn't work....and even when it does LOL ;)

It's a TRAP!!

I also have to share with you some of my of my other favourite feline friends.  This is Asifa and Shemal, brother and sisters, and so much fun! Can you guess which one is the girl and which one is the boy?  ;)

I would love to see photo's of your furry feline friends to keep feline Friday alive!  Share in the comment's.  I can't wait to see!

Happy cuddling with your furry friends!

Back to the real world

Hello friends,

Well, it took me a lot longer than I thought to recover from my time in Vegas with my bestie Nicole.  So much walking and not enough sleep while we were there, then I worked.  Maybe not the smartest plan but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do to keep those vacation days!

Here are about half of the good pics from our trip.  Nicole has the other half and we are still trying to figure out the best way to switch photos.

First night on the town!
Waiting for the Blue Man Group
Lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe
Soaking up the rays :)
Treasure Island Pirate Ships
South part of the strip from the Eiffel Tower
Fountain in front of the Forum Shops
The flamingo's at The Flamingo
Outside of Luxor

It was such a great trip with perfect weather to match.  We didn't get to do all we wanted, but that always happens when in a place with SO much to do and see.  Can't wait to go back!! :)

I have some news for all of you tomorrow so tune in and be sure not to miss it!

Vegas Baby!!

This will be my last post for the next few days as I leave later this afternoon for Vegas with my bestie Nicole!!  SOOOO excited I can't really contain it.  I won't return until late Wednesday night, but if I don't post something right away I am probably recovering from the 4 days we will be there.  Also I will be working on Thursday after arriving late Wednesday night.

BUT I will share pictures with you all and all the crazy adventures Nicole and I get up to.  Well.....most of the adventures.  What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right?

I hope you all have a fantastic long weekend!!  See you on the other side ;)

Crazy Crafting

This weekend was full of creating.  I worked on projects that I had started but did not finish.  It felt really good to get these cards together!

Paper: Crumb Cake, Watercolour
Ink: Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Bermuda Bay, Wisteria Wonder
Stamp Set: By The Tide, Butterfly Basics

This first card (above) is one I started when got some watercolour paper and found a great technique to make a watery background.  All you need is a clear block, water in a spritzer and some markers.  I am SO in love with the By The Tide stamp set that I needed to use the watery background with it.

Paper: Whisper White, Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey
Ink: Old Olive, Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie, Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey
Stamp Set: For All Things

Inspiration from Diana Carr - secretlifeofpaper.blogspot.ca

Paper: Old Olive, Cajun Craze, Whisper White
Ink: Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Early Expresso
Stamp Set: For All Things
Other: Crushed Curry ribbon, basic black ribbon

Inspiration from Diana Eichfeld - stampinfunwithdiana.blogspot.ca
Paper: Hello Honey, Cajun Craze, DSP
Ink: Mossy Meadow

Stamp Set: For All Things
Other: Clear embossing powder

Inspiration from my Upline

These next three are from a class I hosted back last November, most inspiration coming from Pinterest. The people and blogs are listed under each photo. I had a few leftover supplies and I finally put them together for myself.  I really love how these turned out, even the second time around!

I put together two more projects on Saturday, but I am going to hold off showing them to you as they are kind of a little of a surprise!

Thanks for stopping by!  I would love to hear how you like my projects.

Open House

Happy Saturday!!

I hosted my first Open House last weekend and it turned out better than I expected.  I had sent out invites to many people who I know were interested, but got a lot of responses of people unable to come.  I was a little worried that no one was going to show.  Three people came, which was just enough for my door prizes!!

This is the project I got them to create.  The Bow Builder Punch from the Occasions Catalogue has got to be my new favorite thing!!  Now all I need is a stamp that says 'Bow Ties Are Cool'.  Maybe that will be my next Undefined carving project.  Doctor Who cards here I come!

I got inspiration for this card straight out of the Occasions catalogue itself, I just added another layer of paper.  I like this a little better as it gives the card a little more strength.

I also demonstrated some of my other favorite products from the Occasions catalogue as well as some fun tools to use that have been around for a while.  I think the biggest oohs and ahhs came from the Big Shot demonstration.

All in all my first big event went on without a hitch.  I even got to show off my sonic Screwdriver!  Thanks to all the ladies who showed up, I wouldn't have done it without you.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!

World Map Farewell

Hello Bloggers!!

The project I want to share with you all today is one that I made for a co-worker.  Her last day at work was Jan. 30th and I really wanted to send her off well.  She is going to travel with a friend for 4 months around South America so I thought it perfect to use the World Map stamp.

My inspiration for this card came from Stampin' With Paula , but I changed up a few things.  Well, now that I think about it, I just changed one thing.  If you want to check out the original, click here.

The map itself is coloured using Aqua Painters with Pool Party and Pear Pizazz ink.  I used Whisper White card stock which curls with the water from the aqua painters to give it a nice antique feel.  Just be careful you don't go crazy with the colouring as the card stock will peel and start to break apart. The other tip I have for you is when you are inserting the brad through the sentiment, ribbon and map piece, use the Paper Piercing Tool to create a hole first.  You can also use something sharp just to get the hole started.

I got everyone on our team to sign the card then passed it to her when we were at lunch at Japanese Village.  To top it off we got Starbucks on the way back to work.  What a perfect way to send her off!

Bon Voyage Emily!

My First Post

Hello to the blogging world!!

Thank you for stopping by my blog and welcome!  This is my first post to my first blog ever! I am so excited, and maybe just a little nervous about starting up my own blog.  More excited though.

let me introduce myself, I am Lindsay and I am a HUGE nerd (Sci-Fi, Books, TV shows, Games ect.) and fanatic of card making. I have been with Stampin' Up! for a few years now and I am so excited to share my creations with everyone.

Well, I am sure you all want to see some cards. :)

The project above is one card that I made for my Inkin' Elite Swap that usually happens every month or so.  To make things a little more clear, the Inkin' Elite team is made up of my upline and side line of my Stampin' Up! family. What a great bunch they are!  I am so thankful to be a part of such a great team. :)

So.....about the card. This month's swap was all about the products from the new Occasions Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration.  I got my inspiration from Leah's Cards (leahscards.wordpress.com), and I just switched up a bunch of things to make it my own. If you want to check out the original, click here.

I am really in love with the Lotus Blossom stamp set, which is a Sale-A-Bration item.  So gorgeous, and so many colour combinations to choose from!  The background paper is also from the Sale-A-Bration line and supper versatile.  It is totally number two on my list.  I have a full list of my supplies at the bottom of my post.

You can get these great products from the Occasions Catalogue and if you spend $60 or more, you can get a free item from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue!!  Sale-A-Bration only lasts until the end of March, so get thinking what you want now!

I hope you enjoyed my first post! I would love to hear all about my post and any advice you can give me.  Also, please ask questions if you have them.

See you again soon!
